The Elmo Theater located in downtown St.Elmo, Illinois

Front Panoramma

For 27 years she has sat empty and forgotten. Her brick facade discolored by time. Her doors boarded shut and her elegant marquee which once stood aglow with neon lights as people lined up beneath it now hangs dark and rusted; It’s neon tubes gone years ago.
But the Elmo is forgotten no more. The St. Elmo Historical Society has made it our goal to restore the old Elmo Theater to it’s once proud and beautiful state. Once restored the Elmo will not only be used to show features but will also serve as a home for plays, concerts, lectures and other activities.
By restoring the Elmo Theater we believe we are not only rescuing a historic building from destruction and preserving a part of out past but that the reopening of the Elmo as both a movie house and a community theater will further rejuvenate the community it served for so many years.
